The Federal
Government has
announced plans for the gradual phase out of the use of paper-pencil and paper-pen in the conduct of public
examinations in the country. Minister of Education, Professor Ruqayyatu Ahmed
Rufa’i, who made this known, said
this old system would give way for computer-based test. She spoke at the flag-off ceremony for the
introduction of computer-based
test by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) beginning from
the 2013 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
However, most students believe they are unable to take
this format due to non-familiarity
with the computer. This however is a misconception. The computer is easy to use, just like the keystrokes
of the mobile phone.
An online preparatory system which
is accessible through the web-link http://www.jambetest.nad24.com has been provided by one of Nigeria’s leading ICT firm Blue
Pyramid Limited to help in this new development of e-testing by JAMB.
Access can be obtained through
black berry phones, android
phones, I-pads, the I-Phone, smart-phones and any other internet enabled mobile phone with a browser
including laptops and desktop
computers.
