On March
2nd, 2013. The president hosted a presidential dinner with
Nollywood stars to celebrate Nollywood at 20 in Marina Lagos.
First Lady Patience Jonathan, Abia, Akwa Ibom, Anambra State
governors, . Over 750 selected Nollywood actors, actresses, producers and
executives stormed the dinner over and lots of important people were at the dinner.
The
dinner’s aim was to celebrate the Nigerian movie industry’s achievement in the
last 20 years. President Jonathan unveiled a pictorial book
titled 'Icons of Nollywood'.
President Jonathan promised to give Nollywood N3 billion in
order to empower the industry. Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom promised
to finance a N50million. 'Goodluck
Jonathan Prize Award' which will be shared by the best Nollywood actor,
actress, film maker and other award categories.
