Baba Suwe Heads To Supreme Court To Claim N25m

Popular Yoruba Actor and comedian, Mr Babatunde Omidina, popularly known as Baba Suwe, has headed to the Supreme Court on Friday to claim N25million as compensation from the National Drugs Law and Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), after he was accused and detained several days for allegedly carrying narcotic substances in october 24, 2011.

The appellate court, described the N25 million compensation as ‘baseless and pervasive,’ and thus held that the lower court lacked the jurisdiction to preside over the fundamental human rights suit filed by Baba Suwe’s lawyer, Bamidele Aturu.

Bamidele Aturu filed a notice of appeal at the Supreme Court on Friday challenging the decision of the Appeal Court to quash the judgment of the High Court in Lagos.

Baba Suwe who insisted that it was a set up, said that contrary to the earlier claim by NDLEA, that their scanner detected some substances suspected to be hard drugs in his stomach, nothing of such happened. No date has been fixed for the appeal yet.
